Exeter Newsletter, 1 July 1932. 

Mr. James W. Eastman died at his home on High Street Monday afternoon, in his 76th year.

Mr. Eastman was born in Wellfleet, Mass, Oct. 17, 1856, son of Warren and Rachel (Cole) Eastman, but had lived in Exeter for 46 years, coming here from Taunton, Mass., where he worked at the trade of stove maker for the McGee Company.  While in Exeter he worked as a mason and later followed farming.  

Mr. Eastman is survived by the widow, and eight children, five daughters and three sons.  They are Mrs. James Jenkins, Exeter; James A. Eastman, Hampton; Alice E. Eastman, Marion L. Eastman, Mrs. Harry Caverhill and Arthur L. Eastman, all of Exeter; Mrs. Kenneth C. Wheeler, Brooklyn, N.Y.; Fred W. Eastman, Kensington.  There are four sisters, Mrs. Silas Manwaring; Mrs. Edwin Garland, Exeter; Mrs. William Tutein, Stoneham, Mass.; Mrs. Ida Pettigrew, Colebrook, and 2 brothers, Charles E. Eastman, Hampton, & John Y. Eastman, Biddeford, ME., many nephews and nieces, also seven grandchildren.
