    • Orville Vandegrift and his wife Nannie Zue Herndon were both living with Nannie’s mother, Mary Emma Draper, in 1920. [2]
    • There is considerable confusion about how Orville E Vandegrift spelled his surname. Most sources have a variation of Vandegrift or the more traditional Van de Grift. The one spelling that seems be be obviously incorrect is “Vandergriff” as listed in [Anderson-1964]. [3, 12]
    • Orville E Vandegrift had been living in El Paso, El Paso County, Texas for 6 years at the time of his death in 1967. [12]
    • Orville E Vandegrift’s parents were Junius E Van Degrift and Lavina T Jarratt. [12]
    • In 1930, Nannie Zue (Herndon) Vandegrift and her husband Orville E Vandegrift were living in the household of her niece and nephew-in-law Mabel (Flanagan) Perkins and Jack Perkins. [9]
    • In 1937, as an employee of “E A Dunne”, Orville E. Vandegrift was apparently working for his brother-in-law, Edward Anthony Dunne Sr. [13]
    • Sometime prior to Jun 1917, Orville E. Vandegrift served for 3 years and 10 months in the US Navy aboard the tug, “Wadilla”. In 1910 US Federal Census, Orville E. Vandegrift is enumerated in with the crew of the USS Albany (CL-23), a New Orleans class protected cruiser. [7, 14]
