  • Notes
    • Although [Stiles-1971] claims that Amanda and Miranda Thomas were born in 1859, they do not appear in the Eighth Census of the United States for Selma, Dallas County, Alabama. [US-1870-1i] lists the twins as 11 years old in 1870, but this is probably a mistake. Finally, [US-1920-1j] has Miranda’s sister Amanda listed as 57 years old in 1920, which correlates with the only discovered birthdate for the twins, 9 Nov 1862 (unverified information from the LDS IGI). [2, 5, 6, 9]
    • The evidence supporting Miranda Thomas’ marriage J. W. Stratton is not verified and should be considered suspect. The LDS marriage record is the only known record of a Miranda Thomas marrying in Williamson County, Texas. [8]
    • Miranda and Amanda Thomas were twins. [2]
