  • Notes 
    • Many members of Joseph and his wife’s extended family (6 in all) travelled with them aboard the Micas in 1849. One of these was a Daniel Schaefer which some sources list as Joseph’s twin brother. Another was an older male Schaefer who may have been Joseph’s father. In addition were Anton Henschenmacher and his wife, Maria’s parents. It should also be noted that the family members surname was spelled “Schaffer” in the Micas’ manifest. [5, 9]
