  • Notes 
    • [Grayson,1942a] has Sarah Elizabeth Turpin being born in Adair County, Kentucky in 1850, but considering the Turpin family’s presence in Wayne County 1850, this is extremely unlikely. It is more likely that Rebecca (Bradley) Calhoun, the filer of Tennie May Calhoun’s probate birth certificate, didn’t know the birth places of her sister-in-law’s parents and simply listed Adair County, the last location in Kentucky where they where know to have lived. LDS IGI records, on the other hand, have a listing for a “Sarah E Turpin,” born to James and Martha in Wayne County, in 1849. [2, 4]
