  It isn’t actually known when or where Abigail Hopkins died. Since William Merrick’s will (Abigail’s husband) will mentions a different wife, she probably died after the birth of her son Samuel in 1714. Since 1714 was after the creation of Barnstable County (1685), and the merging of the Massachusetts Bay Colony with the Plymouth Colony (1691), “Barnstable County, Massachusetts Colony,” is assumed.
