    • Samuel Sawyer was living with his daughter and son-in-law, Elvira W (Sawyer) and Joseph Andrew Tutein, at the time of the enumeration of the 1870 US census. [3]
    • [Holbrook-1825a] notes that Samuel Sawyer was, “...of Mount Desert,” an island off the coast of Maine containing the town of Bar Harbor among others. It is not clear if this means that he was a resident of Mount Desert at the time of his marriage to Lydia Anders or that he was from (born?) there. [7]
