Death death is based on a single SSDI record matching a “J Herndon,” born in April 1903 and issued a social-security number in Texas. [5]
Through about 1925, Mobile, Tyler County, Texas was the location of a saw mill and logging camp situated about 4 miles northwest of the contemporary town of Colmesneil. The settlement no longer exists. [1]
Commonly known to the descendants of James Augustus Herndon as “J Kirby Herndon,” Kirby only added the initial “J” upon entering the military where he was required to register with three names (or initials). He was know as J. Kirby Herndon from that point forward. [3]
