    Notes
    • There is considerable confusion about where James W Eastman and Mabel M Dean were married due to the fact that the marriage was recorded in three different Massachusetts localities. Examination of [NEGHS-1884a] and [Townsend-1884a] (two of the three existing records), shows that the marriage was registered in Townsend (James’ residence at the time) on 2 July 1884. The couple was married at Pepperell, Middlesex County, a small town near Townsend, on 22 July 1884, and that the marriage was also recorded at Taunton, Bristol County (Mabel’s residence just before the marriage).
