Additional research is required to determine conclusively that Casper Hoffman was the son of John and Catherine Hoffman. Although the small number of Hoffman’s in central Wisconsin at the time, indicates that this is actually the case. [1, 4]
Marshfield, Wisconsin is now part of Marathon County. [1]
Casper Hoffman, along with his parents and siblings, must have emigrated from Bavaria in 1853 as his younger sister, Mary, was born at sea. [5]
