    Notes:

    The 15 Jan 1891 marriage date for John Lawson Herndon and Margaret E Patterson, listed in [Herndon-1950a], is clearly incorrect. Unless all of John Lawson Herndon and Margaret E Patterson’s children were illegitimate, they must have been married about 1870 or 1871. In fact, “15 Jan 1871” corresponds well to the birthdate of their eldest son, William Pickney Herndon.

    The 1900 US Federal Census lists John Lawson Herndon’s birthdate as “Aug 1850” but this conflicts with the birthdate of his older brother George Wallace Herndon.

    At the time of the 1900 US Federal Census, a grandson “Horace B Herndon,” was living with John and Margaret Herndon, but it is not know who’s son he was.

    In [US-1880-1i] and [US-1990-1d] John Lawson Herndon is listed under the name “Lawson Herndon”.
