3. | Johathan Young ![]() |
4. | Deborah Young ![]() |
5. | Rebecca Young ![]() Other Events and Attributes:
Notes: A second Rebecca Young exists, born in 1759 to Thomas and Mary Young of Barnstable. But this Rebecca Young appears to have married Dr. John Young in 1776, and in their marriage intention record, although very hard to read, at least one of the individuals appears to has listed themselves as, “…of Eastham”. Consequently, the evidence that our Rebecca Young is the daughter of Jonathan and Rebecca Young of Wellfleet is more likely. Rebecca married Joseph Snow on 9 Feb 1775 in Wellfleet, Barnstable County, Province of Massachusetts Bay. Joseph was born in ? in (unknown); died in ? in (unknown). [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

17. | Polly Atwood Snow ![]() Other Events and Attributes:
Notes: Due mostly to the listing found in [Holbrook-1805a], this individual has been incorrectly identified as “Polly Atwood” by hundreds of researchers. But [Holbrook-1805b], the marriage intention filed by Daniel Cole and Polly in February of that same year, lists Polly’s full maiden name, as “Polly Atwood Snow”. Polly Atwood Snow was the daughter of Joseph and Rebecca (Young) Snow of Wellfleet, and there is ample additional evidence to indicate that Daniel Cole’s wife was, indeed, Polly Atwood Snow, rather than one of the many women from Cape Cod named Polly Atwood. First, two of their children were given the middle name “Snow” (Polly’s father’s side of the family). Second, one child was given the middle name “Young” (Polly’s mother’s side of the family). Third, Daniel Cole’s wife died in 1836 at the age of 51—putting her birth year near 1785, the same as our Ms. Snow. Polly married Daniel Cole on 19 May 1805 in Wellfleet, Barnstable County, Massachusetts, United States. Daniel (son of Daniel Cole and Susanna Collings) was born on 2 Aug 1783 in Wellfleet, Barnstable County, Massachusetts, United States; died on 1 Jan 1864 in Truro, Barnstable County, Massachusetts, United States. 19. | Joseph Snow ![]() |
20. | John Young Cole ![]() Notes: [Holbrook-1806a] does not actually list John Young Cole’s birthplace. “Wellfleet” is an assumption based on his parents being married there and the fact that appears that the family of Daniel Cole and Polly Atwood never lived anyplace else. |
21. | Mary Cole ![]() Other Events and Attributes:
Notes: [Holbrook-1806a] does not actually list Mary Cole’s birthplace. “Wellfleet” is an assumption based on both her parent’s and her own marriage having taken place in Wellfleet. Mary married Elisha Rich, III on 24 Jun 1827 in Wellfleet, Barnstable County, Massachusetts, United States. Elisha was born in ? in (unknown); died in ? in (unknown). [Group Sheet] [Family Chart] |
22. | Nehemiah Cole ![]() Other Events and Attributes:
Notes: [Pleasant-Hill-1856a] lists Nehemiah Cole’s death date as 5 June 1856. Nehemiah married Sabra Doane Pierce on 4 May 1830 in Wellfleet, Barnstable County, Massachusetts, United States. Sabra (daughter of Solomon Peirce and Keziah Doane) was born on 1 Jul 1810 in Wellfleet, Barnstable County, Massachusetts, United States; died on 17 Jul 1874 in Wellfleet, Barnstable County, Massachusetts, United States; was buried after 17 Jul 1874 in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Wellfleet, Barnstable County, Massachusetts, United States. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
|
23. | Joseph Snow Cole ![]() Other Events and Attributes:

24. | Samuel Snow Cole ![]() Other Events and Attributes:
Notes: [Holbrook-1806a] does not actually list Samuel Snow Cole’s birthplace. “Wellfleet” is an assumption based on both his parent’s and his own marriage having taken place in Wellfleet. Samuel married Elisa A Young on 20 May 1839 in Wellfleet, Barnstable County, Massachusetts, United States. Elisa was born in ? in (unknown); died in ? in (unknown). [Group Sheet] [Family Chart] |
25. | Daniel Cole ![]() Notes: [Holbrook-1986a] does not actually list Daniel Cole’s birthplace. “Wellfleet” is an assumption based on his parents being married there and the fact that appears that the family of Daniel Cole and Polly Atwood never lived anyplace else. |
27. | Rachel Young Cole ![]() Other Events and Attributes:

She was first enumerated in the household of her mother, Sabra Doane (Pierce) Cole in Wellfleet, Barnstable County, Massachusetts. Later, Harriet was enumerated in the household of her older sister Rachel Young (Cole) Eastman, in the Eastman family home in Chelsea, Suffolk County, Massachusetts. |
33. | Daniel Cole ![]() Other Events and Attributes:

Notes: Sabra Doane Cole is enumerated in the household of her older brother Daniel in the 1870 US Federal Census. |
36. | Nehemiah Cole ![]() Other Events and Attributes:
|
37. | Charles E Eastman ![]() Other Events and Attributes:
Notes: [NHBoVR-1936a] notes that Charles E. Eastman had been a resident of Hampton, Rockingham County, New Hampshire up until one week before his death. This source also notes the location of Charles’ death as “12 Walnut Street” in Exeter which happens to be the address in 1930 of Annie (Eastman) Manwaring and her husband Silas. Therefore, it’s likely that Charles passed away at the home of his younger sister, Annie. Charles married Mary L Gardner on 9 Sep 1897 in Exeter, Rockingham County, New Hampshire, United States. Mary was born in Oct 1854 in Portsmouth, Rockingham County, New Hampshire, United States; died before Apr 1910 in (unknown). [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
|
38. | Emily Ann Eastman ![]() Other Events and Attributes:
Notes: Emily Ann Eastman appears twice in “Wellfleet Births, Marriages, Deaths 1843 - 1859, Volume 2”. First on page 37, entry 41 with a birthdate of 16 Feb 1853. Second on page 41, entry 119 with a birthdate of 16 Feb 1854. Since it is highly unlikely that a second child with the same name was born exactly one year later, this database assumes that this is simply an entry mistake. Moreover, no death record has yet been found for an older daughter named Emily Ann Eastman. Emily married John Albert Nelson on 23 May 1870 in Chelsea, Suffolk County, Massachusetts, United States. John was born about 1851 in Bath, Sagadahoc County, Maine, United States; died in ? in (unknown). [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
|
39. | James Warren Eastman ![]() Other Events and Attributes:
Notes: Residence: James married Mabel Maria Deane on 22 Jul 1884 in Pepperell, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, United States. Mabel (daughter of James A Deane and Marcella M Sinclair) was born on 31 May 1867 in Taunton, Bristol County, Massachusetts, United States; died on 22 Mar 1942 in Exeter, Rockingham County, New Hampshire, United States; was buried on 25 Mar 1942 in Exeter Cemetery, Exeter, Rockingham County, New Hampshire, United States. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
|
40. | Eliza Ann Eastman ![]() Other Events and Attributes:
Notes: Eliza Ann Eastman is not referenced in any sources after the enumeration of the 1870 US Federal census. Likewise, Ida A Eastman, is not referenced in any sources before her marriage to Walter C Harvey in 1876. Furthermore, [Tutein-1978] lists 8 children of Warren and Rachel Young (Cole) Eastman who lived to adulthood, and Eliza is not among them. Consequently, since Tutein descendants only knew Eliza by the nickname that she used throughout her adult life, “Ida”, and since Ida (Eastman-Harvey) Pettigrew was known to have been born in Aug of 1858, Ida and Eliza must be the same individual. Eliza married Walter C Harvey on 21 Jun 1876 in Chelsea, Suffolk County, Massachusetts, United States. Walter was born on 7 Dec 1853 in Norton, Bristol County, Massachusetts, United States; died on 3 Dec 1881 in Chelsea, Suffolk County, Massachusetts, United States. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
Eliza married John W Pettigrew on 9 Aug 1884 in Taunton, Bristol County, Massachusetts, United States. John was born on 7 Dec 1841 in Kittery, York County, Maine, United States; died on 7 Oct 1923 in Portsmouth, Rockingham County, New Hampshire, United States; was buried on 9 Oct 1923 in Exeter Cemetery, Exeter, Rockingham County, New Hampshire, United States. 41. | Harriet Cole Eastman ![]() Other Events and Attributes:
Notes: Harriet Cole Eastman’s birthdate and birth location are corroborated by many sources including [Tutein-1997c], [VtSAaRA-1960a], [OakGrove-1960], and [NEHGS-1861a]. Harriet married William Franklin Tutein on 30 Mar 1881 in Chelsea, Suffolk County, Massachusetts, United States. William (son of Constantine Dedriech Tutein and Louisa Sawyer) was born on 29 Jan 1862 in Chelsea, Suffolk County, Massachusetts, United States; died on 1 Apr 1937 in Stoneham, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, United States; was buried on 3 Apr 1937 in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, United States. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
|
42. | Annie Eastman ![]() Other Events and Attributes:
Notes: [US-1900-1b] and [NHBoVR-1945a] are in agreement on the year and month of Annie Eastman’s birth. Annie married Silas S Manwaring on 25 Dec 1886 in Taunton, Bristol County, Massachusetts, United States. Silas was born on 6 Jul 1857 in Niantic, New London County, Connecticut, United States; died on 13 Apr 1950 in Portsmouth, Rockingham County, New Hampshire, United States; was buried after 13 Apr 1950 in Exeter Cemetery, Exeter, Rockingham County, New Hampshire, United States. 43. | John Young Eastman ![]() Other Events and Attributes:
Notes: At the time of the 1900 US federal census, John Young Eastman was living in the household of his elder sister Harriet Cole (Eastman) Tutein and her husband William Franklin Tutein. He also lists himself as divorced, presumably from his first wife Alice A Dean. John married Alice A B Deane on 30 Nov 1888 in Taunton, Bristol County, Massachusetts, United States, and was divorced before Jun 1900 in (unknown). Alice (daughter of James A Deane and Marcella M Sinclair) was born on 2 Mar 1869 in Taunton, Bristol County, Massachusetts, United States; died in ? in (unknown). [Group Sheet] [Family Chart] John married Emma J Whalen on 6 Jul 1901 in Chelsea, Suffolk County, Massachusetts, United States. Emma was born about 1877 in _______, Nova Scotia, Canada; died on 16 Jun 1913 in Exeter, Rockingham County, New Hampshire, United States; was buried on 18 Jun 1913 in Exeter Cemetery, Exeter, Rockingham County, New Hampshire, United States. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
|
44. | Rachel Frances Eastman ![]() Other Events and Attributes:
Notes: Rachel “Lettie” (Eastman) Eldridge passed away at Exeter Cottage Hospital 2 days after she was admitted. Strangely, her death certificate seems to have been filled out by someone other than her husband, and although Rachel is listed as being married, a reference to Frank L Eldridge was omitted. Rachel married Frank L Eldridge on 9 Jul 1890 in Exeter, Rockingham County, New Hampshire, United States. Frank was born on 14 Aug 1864 in Providence, Providence County, Rhode Island, United States; died on 27 Jan 1926 in Exeter, Rockingham County, New Hampshire, United States; was buried on 30 Jan 1926 in Exeter Cemetery, Exeter, Rockingham County, New Hampshire, United States. Edwin was born on 15 Jun 1873 in Epping, Rockingham County, New Hampshire, United States; died in 1954 in (unknown); was buried in 1954 in Exeter Cemetery, Exeter, Rockingham County, New Hampshire, United States. 46. | William Cleverly Cole ![]() Other Events and Attributes:
Notes: At the time of the enumeration of the 1860 US Federal census, William C. Cole and his parents were living with his aunt, Rachel Young (Cole) Eastman, in the Eastman family’s home in Chelsea, Suffolk County, Massachusetts. William married Mary Ida Libby on 1 Jul 1906 in Chelsea, Suffolk County, Massachusetts, United States. Mary was born about 1860 in Portland, Cumberland County, Maine, United States; died in 1918 in Chelsea, Suffolk County, Massachusetts, United States. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart] |

50. | Chester N Cole ![]() Other Events and Attributes:
Notes: Residence: |
51. | Bessie Gardner ![]() Other Events and Attributes:
|
52. | John Albert Nelson ![]() Other Events and Attributes:
Notes: A 10 year old “John A Nelson” is listed as a “boarder” in the household of Warren and Rachel Young (Cole) Eastman in 1880. This is almost certainly John Albert Nelson, the child born to Emily Ann Eastman and John A Nelson in October of 1870. Since Emily used her maiden name in that same census record and listed herself as “single”, her marriage in to the elder John Albert Nelson in 1870 may simply have been to provide legitimacy to her son’s birth. John married Carrie B Dane on 4 Oct 1890 in Exeter, Rockingham County, New Hampshire, United States, and was divorced before May 1898 in (unknown). Carrie was born about 1869 in Exeter, Rockingham County, New Hampshire, United States; died in ? in (unknown). [Group Sheet] [Family Chart] John married Amy Maud Davis on 3 May 1898 in Candia, Rockingham County, New Hampshire, United States, and was divorced before Jul 1901 in (unknown). Amy was born about 1879 in Deerfield, Rockingham County, New Hampshire, United States; died in ? in (unknown). [Group Sheet] [Family Chart] John married Mary A Holland on 27 Jul 1901 in Providence, Providence County, Rhode Island, United States. Mary was born about 1881 in Fall River, Bristol County, Massachusetts, United States; died in ? in (unknown). [Group Sheet] [Family Chart] |
53. | Ida May Eastman ![]() Other Events and Attributes:
Notes: Ida May (Eastman) Jenkin’s death was reported by her younger brother James Albert Eastman. She entered Exeter Hospital on, or about, 11 March 1947 and died there 5 days later. The cause of death was not recorded in [NHBoVR-1947a]. Ida married James Kendall Jenkins on 24 Nov 1915 in Exeter, Rockingham County, New Hampshire, United States. James was born on 16 Feb 1866 in Lebanon, York County, Maine, United States; died on 11 Feb 1940 in Exeter, Rockingham County, New Hampshire, United States; was buried on 13 Feb 1940 in Pine Hill Cemetery, Exeter, Rockingham County, New Hampshire, United States. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart] |
54. | James Albert Eastman ![]() Other Events and Attributes:
Notes: Source [US-SSS-1917n] corroborates the birthdate listed in source [NEHGS-1888c]. James married Genevra Noble on 20 Sep 1944 in North Hampton, Rockingham County, New Hampshire, United States. Genevra was born about 1897 in Westfield, Hampden County, Massachusetts, United States; died in ? in (unknown). [Group Sheet] [Family Chart] |
55. | Alice E Eastman ![]() Other Events and Attributes:
Notes: Since [NVBoVR-1889a] explicitly refers to the 3rd child of “James E. Eastman” and “Mabel Dean”, the individual referenced must be Alice E. Eastman who was known to have been born in Oct of 1889. |
56. | Marion L Eastman ![]() Other Events and Attributes:
Notes: Death date and last residence are based on a single matching record for a “Marion Eastman” born on 3 August 1891. |
57. | Frederick Warren Eastman ![]() Other Events and Attributes:
Notes: There is no question that source [NHBoVR-1893b] refers to Frederick Warren Eastman since it explicitly states that the individual is the 5th of James Warren and Mabel Maria (Deane) Eastman’s children. Frederick married Mary Belle Jackson on 7 Aug 1915 in Exeter, Rockingham County, New Hampshire, United States. Mary was born about 1896 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada; died on 21 Nov 1973 in (unknown); was buried after 21 Nov 1973 in Exeter Cemetery, Exeter, Rockingham County, New Hampshire, United States. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
|
58. | Edna Ellsworth Eastman ![]() Other Events and Attributes:
Notes: Since [NVBoVR-1894a] explicitly refers to the 6th child of “James W. Eastman” and “Mable M. Dean”, the individual referenced must be Edna Ellsworth Eastman who was known to have been born in Nov of 1894. Edna married Harry Staples Caverhill on 10 Oct 1925 in _______, _______, Maine, United States. Harry was born on 22 Jun 1887 in Marysville, York County, New Brunswick, Canada; died on 3 Apr 1957 in _______, _______, New Hampshire, United States; was buried after 3 Apr 1957 in Exeter Cemetery, Exeter, Rockingham County, New Hampshire, United States. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
|
59. | Arthur Lester Eastman ![]() Other Events and Attributes:
Notes: Arthur Lester Eastman’s birth record, source [NHBoVR-1896b], appears to be a delayed filing that was registered with the County Clerk of Exeter, Rockingham County, New Hampshire on 19 Feb 1942.t |
60. | Bernice Hazel Eastman ![]() Other Events and Attributes:
Notes: Residence: |
61. | George W Harvey ![]() Other Events and Attributes:
Notes: [NHBoVR-1909a1] notes that George W Harvey had been a resident at the New Hampshire State Hospital, an insane asylum, for approximately 2 years at the time of his death. Since this period coincides with the duration of the illness from which he died, it’s likely that the listing of “Paresis” as the cause of death refers to “paralytic dementia”, the neuropsychiatric disorder resulting from late-stage syphilis. |
62. | Arthur Sinclair Harvey ![]() Other Events and Attributes:
Notes: Residence: Arthur married Margaret J McIntosh on 15 Jun 1899 in Exeter, Rockingham County, New Hampshire, United States. Margaret was born about 1879 in _______, _______, Maine, United States; died in ? in (unknown). [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Nellie married Herbert Warren Tutein on 17 Jun 1916 in Exeter, Rockingham County, New Hampshire, United States. Herbert (son of William Franklin Tutein and Harriet Cole Eastman) was born on 13 Feb 1891 in Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts, United States; died on 7 Jan 1980 in Goffstown, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, United States; was buried after 7 Jan 1980 in Puritan Lawn Cemetery, Peabody, Massachusetts, United States. |
80. | Dorothy M Eldridge ![]() Other Events and Attributes:
Notes: Due to her age at the time of the enumeration of the 1920 US Federal census, it would be reasonable to assume that Dorothy M Eldridge was the daughter of Frank L Eldridge and his first wife, Rachel F “Lettie” Eastman. That census record, however, lists Dorothy’s parents as both having been born in Massachusetts, indicating that Dorothy may have been a child from a previous marriage of Frank’s second wife, Marion G. (Adams) Reynolds. To date, no record from the 1910 US Federal census has been discovered to prove this assertion. |
