1. | John George Watson was born about 1894 in Rathmullen, County Donegal, Province of Ulster, Ireland, United Kingdom (son of John George Watson and Euphemia Fairbanks); died in ? in (unknown). Other Events and Attributes:
Notes: Rathmelton (modern “Ramelton”) and Rathmullen, both in County Donegal are about 5 miles apart. But it is not known if John George Watson confused one for the other on his marriage certificate. John married Sarah Jane Relyea on 20 Sep 1924 in Perth, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada. Sarah was born about 1900 in Pendleton, _______, Ontario, Canada; died in ? in (unknown). 2. | John George Watson was born on 29 Jan 1861 in _______, _______, Ireland, United Kingdom; died on 9 Jan 1934 in Chaffey, District of Muskoka, Ontario, Canada; was buried on 11 Jan 1934 in Saint Andrew's Presbyterian Cemetery, Chaffey Township, District of Muskoka, Ontario, Canada. Other Events and Attributes:
Notes: John George Watson was apparently in the British military in 1901, since [Ireland-1901b1] notes that he was enumerated on “Form H, R. I. C. Barracks, Rathmelton” (“Royal Infantry Company”?). Unfortunately, Form H of the _Census of Ireland, 1901_ is not available through the national archives. John married Euphemia Fairbanks in Jun 1889 in Tobercurry, County Sligo, Ireland, United Kingdom. Euphemia (daughter of Richard Fairbanks and Euphemia Thomson) was born before 1 Jan 1870 in Coolaney, County Sligo, Province of Connacht, Ireland, United Kingdom; died after Jan 1934 in (unknown). 3. | Euphemia Fairbanks was born before 1 Jan 1870 in Coolaney, County Sligo, Province of Connacht, Ireland, United Kingdom (daughter of Richard Fairbanks and Euphemia Thomson); died after Jan 1934 in (unknown). Other Events and Attributes:
Notes: Consistent with the so-called “birth” entries for her older brothers, 1 Jan 1870 probably refers to Euphemia’s baptism rather than her date of birth. Notes: Tobercurry is the civil district in which Euphemia Fairbanks marriage to John George Watson was recorded. It is probably not the actual location of their marriage.

6. | Richard Fairbanks was born about 1837 in (unknown) (son of Edward Fairbanks and Eliza Mann); died on 29 Dec 1885 in Templehouse, County Sligo, Province of Connacht, Ireland, United Kingdom. Other Events and Attributes:
Notes: [Fairbanks-1978] states that Richard Fairbanks was the ‘Chief Steward of the Temple family of Coventry’. This is probably a reference to Henry Lord Temple, 3rd Viscount Palmerston who was known to have estates in Scotland and Ireland, including Cassiebawn Castle and estate in northwestern County Sligo. However, most of Richard Fairbanks’ children were born in the area of Temple House Estate, the ancestral home of the Perceval family near Ballymote. In fact, two daughters, Beatrice and Margaret, are actually listed as being born at ‘Temple House’. Given these facts, it is more likely that Richard Fairbanks worked for the Perceval family in some capacity rather than for Lord Palmerston. Richard married Euphemia Thomson on 19 Nov 1860 in Kingsbarns, Kingsbarns Parish, County Fife, Scotland, United Kingdom. Euphemia (daughter of John Thomson and Margaret Kay) was born on 15 Nov 1840 in Kingsbarns, Kingsbarns Parish, County Fife, Scotland, United Kingdom; died about Sep 1908 in _______, County Sligo, Province of Connacht, Ireland, United Kingdom. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart] |
7. | Euphemia Thomson was born on 15 Nov 1840 in Kingsbarns, Kingsbarns Parish, County Fife, Scotland, United Kingdom (daughter of John Thomson and Margaret Kay); died about Sep 1908 in _______, County Sligo, Province of Connacht, Ireland, United Kingdom. Other Events and Attributes:
Notes: According to [Fairbanks-1949], Euphemia died at the age of 58 attended by two of her children (a son and a daughter) who then emigrated to Australia after their mother’s death--the other children having emigrated previously. However this is contradicted by [UK-GRO-1908a] and [LaAC-1913a]. The children that were living with Euphemia at the time of her death were probably Thomas and Martha, both of whom emigrated to Canada along with their sister Beatrice in 1913. Notes: Richard Fairbanks and Euphemia Thomson were married at the “Manse of Kingsbarns”--in other words, at the minister’s home or residence.
