1. | John Chadwick was born before 22 Feb 1824 in _______, Cheshire, England, United Kingdom; was christened on 22 Feb 1824 in Mottram in Longdendale, Cheshire, England, United Kingdom (son of Immanuel Chadwick and Hannah Toothil); died before Jun 1841 in (unknown). Notes: It is assumed, but not known for certain, that John Chadwick passed away before the enumeration of the 1841 Census of England and Wales. No John Chadwick, born in Cheshire, appears in that census in is father’s household nor in any other record for the area. (There are, however, numerous records for “John Chadwick’s”, but all are for individuals born in Lancashire and not in proximity to Stalybridge or the Parish of Mottram in Longdendale.) |
2. | Immanuel Chadwick was born before 19 Sep 1802 in Newton, Cheshire, England, United Kingdom; was christened on 19 Sep 1802 in Mottram in Longdendale, Cheshire, England, United Kingdom (son of Samuel Chadwick and Mary Tomlinson); died after Apr 1861 in (unknown). Other Events and Attributes:
Notes: Duplicate christening records exist for Immanuel Chadwick, each from Cheshire parish records. The first lists his given name as “Immanuel”, which is consistent with the name used in his marriage intention record. The second uses the name “Emanuel” (probably “Emmanuel”), which is consistent with the name as it appears on the christening records of his children. Immanuel married Hannah Toothil on 19 Jul 1823 in Mottram in Longdendale, Cheshire, England, United Kingdom. Hannah was born about 1801 in Bury, Lancashire, England, United Kingdom; died after Apr 1861 in (unknown). [Group Sheet] [Family Chart] |
3. | Hannah Toothil was born about 1801 in Bury, Lancashire, England, United Kingdom; died after Apr 1861 in (unknown). Other Events and Attributes:
Notes: Sources [England-1841d] and [England-1861d] list different locations for Hannah Toothil’s birth—Cheshire for the former and Bury in Lancashire for the latter. The latter is more likely because the 1861 Census of England and Wales recorded the actual county and town of an individual’s birth rather than just affirming that a person was, or was not, born in the county being enumerated as was done in the 1841 census. Notes: It is not clear if the marriage referenced in [LDS-VRI-1823a] is an actual marriage date or a record of the Immanuel Chadwick and Hannah Toothil’s intention to marry. Additional research is required.
