    Notes:

Hans Nilsson appears to have emigrated from Sweden using the name “Hans Anderberg”. He is listed under this name in [US-1880-1s] and [MN-1885b]. By 1895, Hans is using the surname “Lindell”, the name adopted by his father and siblings. He was referred to as “Hans N Lindell” for the remainder of his life.

[US-1900-1i] has immigration year as 1870, and [US-1920-1m] has 1871. These more closely agree with [Gothenburg-2006a] which has Hans embarking from Copenhagen on 4 May 1871 in route to “St. Paul” (presumably Minnesota). This indicates that Hans Nilsson preceded his family to the United States, perhaps to determine the viability of the rest of the family emigrating in 1872.

Traveling under the name ‘Hans Anderberg’, Hans Nilsson embarked from Glasgow, Scotland on or about 10 May 1871 aboard the ship Nova Scotian. Quebec, Province of Quebec, Canada was his port of entry though, obviously, not his final destination.

In [MN-1895b] Hans Nilsson’s (a.k.a. Hans Lindell) surname is listed as “Lindal”.

    • Census: 7 Jan 1920, Darwin Township, Meeker County, Minnesota, United States

    Notes:

“Slogberget, Hellsjö Kommun, Kopparbergs län” is the historic name for the community in which Johan Axel Jansson lived. The modern location is “Slogberg” or “Ov Slogberg”, near the village of “Hällsjön”, in “Dalarnas län” (the modern name of the province). It sould also be noted that the birth record *DOES NOT* state that Johan Axel was born in Slogberget. Rather, it states that a son, “Johan Axel,” was born to a Jan Eric Jansson and Johanna Carlsdotter, “...of Slogberget”. The use of Slogberget is a deduction based on the available evidence.

The information from [Johnson, 1952] and that Johan Axel Jansson was born in Smedjebacken, Kopparbergs län, Sweden is not correct. The birth date is though, is now verified through two independent sources.

13 May 1887 is the date that Johan Axel Jansson left Norrbärke Parish with his family on their way to North America, not the day that he emigrated from Sweden.

  4. 11.  Johanna Wilhelmina JansdotterJohanna Wilhelmina Jansdotter was born on 2 Nov 1856 in Ramsberg, Örebro län, Sweden (daughter of John Erick Johnson); died on 12 Apr 1941 in Darwin Township, Meeker County, Minnesota, United States; was buried on 16 Apr 1941 in Swan Lake Cemetery, near Dassel, Meeker County, Minnesota, United States.

    • Census: 7 Jan 1920, Darwin Township, Meeker County, Minnesota, United States

    Notes:

13 May 1887 is the date that Johanna Wilhelmina Jansdotter left Norrbärke Parish with her husband on her way to North America, not the day that she emigrated from Sweden.

[US-1900-2j] notes that Johanna Wilhelmina Jansdotter had 9 children of which 8 were living in 1900. This indicates that at least two of the known children, probably John and Jack were the same individual.
