Notes: “St. Johns, Lower Canada,” is exactly how John B. McKillips residence was recorded at the time of his marriage to Lucy Gant, but there are a number of problems with this location. First, Saint John’s, the modern capital of Newfoundland and Labrador, was never part of the Province of Lower Canada. Second, Saint John’s is a tremendous distance from Vermont. It is possible that whomever wrote out the ‘Marriage Groom’ card for John. americanized the town of Saint Jean sur Richelieu which lies between the Vermont-Canada border and Montreal. A birth certificate should be sought. John married Lucy Gant on 4 Jul 1830 in Middlebury, Addison County, Vermont, United States. Lucy was born about 1810 in _______, _______, Vermont, United States; died before 1870 in _______, _______, Wisconsin, United States. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart] |

Notes: Louisa (“Lucy”) Killips does not appear in the 1870 US federal census records, and John B Killips lists himself as widowed in 1880. Therefore, it’s likely that Louisa died before 1870.
