[Boothbay-2002a] has a death date for Robert A Sawyer of 19 Oct 1836 despite the fact that he is still alive and enumerated in the US Federal Census in 1930. Consequently the former source must be incorrect, but the reason for the discrepancy has not yet been discovered.

Given his mother’s maiden name, it is likely that Robert’s middle name was “Anders”.

Notes:

Samuel Sawyer was living with his daughter and son-in-law, Elvira W (Sawyer) and Joseph Andrew Tutein, at the time of the enumeration of the 1870 US census.

[Holbrook-1825a] notes that Samuel Sawyer was, “...of Mount Desert,” an island off the coast of Maine containing the town of Bar Harbor among others. It is not clear if this means that he was a resident of Mount Desert at the time of his marriage to Lydia Anders or that he was from (born?) there.

Samuel married Lydia Anders on 17 Oct 1825 in Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts, United States. Lydia was born about 1803 in _______, _______, Maine, United States; died on 13 Apr 1851 in (unknown). [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

In [Holbrook-1825a] Lydia Anders is listed as, “...of Boston,” although it is not clear if this means that he was a resident of Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts at the time of her marriage to Samuel Sawyer or that she was born and raised in Boston. It may, in fact, imply both since she and Samuel were married in Boston

Unlike the entry for Samuel Sawyer and Lydia Anders in [Holbrook-1825a], [Holbrook-1825b] does list a pastor. Consequently, it is assumed that this was Samuel and Lydia’s publication of their intention to marry.
