Jonathan Linnell was a resident of Eastham, Barnstable County at the time of his marriage to Priscilla Gould.

[Austin-1995a] does not list Jonathan Linnell’s birthplace but does note that his birth was recorded in Eastham records. The use of “Eastham, Barnstable County” is an assumption based on his father being resident of Eastham and his own marriage in Eastham.

Jonathan married Priscilla Gould on 9 Jan 1753 in Eastham, Barnstable County, Province of Massachusetts Bay. Priscilla (daughter of Nathanial Gould and Grace Hurd) was born on 11 Apr 1731 in Harwich, Barnstable County, Province of Massachusetts Bay; died in ?. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

[Holbrook-1987d] does not actually list Harwich as Priscilla Gould’s birthplace. This is an assumption based on her parent’s marriage and her marriage intention both being registered in Harwich. In addition, she was a resident of Harwich at the time of her marriage to Jonathan Linnell.

Jonathan Linnell and Priscilla Gould entered their intention to marry in the Harwich town records, 30 Nov 1751. Sources that list this date as the marriage date are probably incorrect despite the fact that no supporting evidence has been found for the 9 Jan 1753 marriage date listed in LDS IGI.

To date, searches of Eastham and Harwich vital records have turned up no supporting evidence for the birth dates and locations of the children (with the exception of Benjamin). Furthermore, the LDS-IGI dates should be treated as suspect since only three (Thankful, Molly, and Fabas) claim to be derived from vital records, and Benjamin, the one child known to have been born in Eastham, is listed as derived from an LDS Patron Sheet. Additional research is required, especially in the Eastham records in [Holbrook,1997b], due to the poor condition of the records.

[Austin-1995a] does not list the exact death date for Thomas Linnell. He is know to have died between 1 July 1737 (the date of his will) and 3 Oct 1737 (he date his will was executed). In addition, the listed children’s names also come from the will.

Thomas Linnell was a resident of Eastham at the time of his marriage to Thankful Hopkins.

Thomas married Thankful Hopkins on 6 Oct 1726 in Harwich, Barnstable County, Province of Massachusetts Bay. Thankful (daughter of Stephen Hopkins and Sarah Howes) was born in Apr 1700 in Harwich, Barnstable County, Province of Massachusetts Bay; died before Nov 1754 in Eastham, Barnstable County, Province of Massachusetts Bay. [Austin-1995a] does not list a death location for Thankful Hopkins, but it’s likely that she died in Eastham, Barnstable County, since both of her husbands were residents of Eastham.

Thankful Hopkins probably died between 8 Dec 1743, the date of her marriage to her second husband John Paine, and 28 Nov 1854, the date John Paine married his third wife, Mercy (Higgens) Treat.

Thankful Hopkins was a resident of Harwich at the time of her marriage to Thomas Linnell.
