    Notes:

If, in fact, Carl Nilsson and Charley Lindell are the same person, then the obituary of Carl’s older sister Margareta indicates that he probably emigrated to the US with his father and older brothers and may have been living in Crookston, Minnesota at the time of her death in 1922. Source [Oakdale-Cemetery-1934a] also records the burial of Charles N. and Cecilia Lindell in Crookston.

    Notes:

Celia Ornberg married “C N Lindell” of Polk County, Minnesota, on 30 Oct 1880. I believe this to be Carl Nilsson (a.k.a. Charley Lindell) because 1) Carl/Charley was known to be a resident of Crookston (in Polk County) and 2) Celia’s daughter Selma May had the inscription “Died in Crookston” on her gravestone.

    Notes:

Nils Olsson, like the rest of his family, took the name “Lindell” sometime around their emigration in 1872. Minnesota State Census records for Meeker County, as well as his gravesite, list his name as “N O Lindell”. The Birth and Death Record for Meeker County has him listed under “Nels Olson”. This database uses the name “Nils Olsson” because this is how he is listed in Swedish birth records for himself and all of his children.

“Asum, Kristianstads län,” is a historical name for the area centered on the modern village of Asumtorp (might also be Norra Asum, another village within a mile) in the modern province of Skåne län.

In 1900, Nils Olsson (aka, Nels O Lindell) lists himself as widowed and is living with his son Ola despite the fact that the best available information has his wife’s death in 1902.

In 1875, Nils Olsson (listed under the name “N C Lindell”) and his wife are living alone in Swede Grove, Meeker County, Minnesota despite the fact that they still had unmarried children under the age of 25.

    • Census: 1 May 1875, Swede Grove, Meeker County, Minnesota, United States
    • Census: Jun 1895, Grove City, Meeker County, Minnesota, United States

    Notes:

Along with the rest of her husband’s family, Marna took the name “Lindell” upon emigrating to America in 1872 and she is listed as “Maina Lindell” at her grave site.

Meeker County Cemeteries has death year as 1902, despite the fact that Marna is not listed in [US-1900-1j2] and her husband Nils lists himself as widowed.

“Kristianstads län,” is a historic Swedish province that was combined in 1997 with Malmöhus län to form the modern province of “Skåne län”.

    Other Events and Attributes:

    • Also Known As: Ole Peter Ornberg
    • Occupation: Farmer
    • Emigration: 2 May 1870, Tunby, Smedstorp Parish, Kristianstads län, Sweden
    • Emigration: Bef 10 May 1870, Liverpool, Lancashire, England, United Kingdom

    • Census: 20 Jul 1870, Township of Swede Grove, Meeker County, Minnesota, United States
    • Census: 7 Jun 1880, Swede Grove, Meeker County, Minnesota, United States

    Notes:

Ola Persson took the name “Ole Peter Ornberg” soon after or during his emigration from Sweden in 1870. He used the surname Ornberg for the remainder of his life.

Ola Persson’s (Ole Peter Ornberg’s) gravestone does not actually list his birthdate which is inferred from an inscription that reads, “Aged: 61 ys’ 4 mo’s 5dy’s”, but that date, 3 December 1821, appears to be a year off.

Even though there is a record of a “Hannah Ornberg” who died in 1894 and who was probably Ole’s wife, the Birth and Death Register of Meeker County lists Ole as being widowed at the time of his death as does [US-1880-2f].

The ‘Household Examination’ from source [GID-1857a] appears to have been taken in 1857 with the entry for Hans Olson being added to the record in 1860.

Ola Persson is recorded as having departed Tunby, Smedstorp Parish on 2 May 1870 on his way to the United States, accompanied by his six living children. However, it appears that either the dates in this record or in source [LaAC-1870a3] are incorrect, as they do not provide sufficient time for the family to travel to Quebec. It is possible that 2 May 1870 from [GID-1870a] is the date that Ola Persson intended to leave Sweden (and that he left earlier) or that 10 May 1870 [LaAC-1870a3] is the date that the ship North American departed Liverpool rather than the date it arrived in Quebec.
