There is considerable confusion about how Orville E Vandegrift spelled his surname. Most sources have a variation of Vandegrift or the more traditional Van de Grift. The one spelling that seems be be obviously incorrect is “Vandergriff” as listed in [Anderson-1964].
Orville E Vandegrift had been living in El Paso, El Paso County, Texas for 6 years at the time of his death in 1967.
Orville E Vandegrift’s parents were Junius E Van Degrift and Lavina T Jarratt.
In 1930, Nannie Zue (Herndon) Vandegrift and her husband Orville E Vandegrift were living in the household of her niece and nephew-in-law Mabel (Flanagan) Perkins and Jack Perkins.
