Notes:
Hans Nilsson appears to have emigrated from Sweden using the name “Hans Anderberg”. He is listed under this name in [US-1880-1s] and [MN-1885b]. By 1895, Hans is using the surname “Lindell”, the name adopted by his father and siblings. He was referred to as “Hans N Lindell” for the remainder of his life.
[US-1900-1i] has immigration year as 1870, and [US-1920-1m] has 1871. These more closely agree with [Gothenburg-2006a] which has Hans embarking from Copenhagen on 4 May 1871 in route to “St. Paul” (presumably Minnesota). This indicates that Hans Nilsson preceded his family to the United States, perhaps to determine the viability of the rest of the family emigrating in 1872.
Traveling under the name ‘Hans Anderberg’, Hans Nilsson embarked from Glasgow, Scotland on or about 10 May 1871 aboard the ship Nova Scotian. Quebec, Province of Quebec, Canada was his port of entry though, obviously, not his final destination.
In [MN-1895b] Hans Nilsson’s (a.k.a. Hans Lindell) surname is listed as “Lindal”.
