On the other had the Works Progress Administration, Indiana Marriage Records have James and most of his children marrying in Martin County using the name Maston. Notes: The fact that H. Bertrand’s wife is “Lucinda Carrico,” daughter of Vincent Carrico and Mary Elder of Maryland and Kentucky, is confirmed by numerous, but mostly unverified sources. She probably married Nicholas Hyacinth Bertrand on 18 May 1834 in Meade County Kentucky. The 1880 Federal Census for Perry, Martin County, Indiana give some support to the connection between Lucinda and her supposed parents.
