Generations:      Standard    |    Vertical    |    Compact    |    Box    |    Text    |    Ahnentafel    |    Fan Chart    |    Media

Generation: 1

  1. 1.  Otto Lindell was born on 23 Dec 1875 in _______, _______, Minnesota, United States (son of Ola Nilsson and Ella Lindell); died on 25 Mar 1876 in _______, _______, Minnesota, United States.

    Notes:

The birth and death of the first child of Ella and Ola Nilsson named Otto is listed as having happened in 1885/86 in source [Alden-1888]. However, given that the birthdate of the younger brother, Otto Anton, is also a decade off, this database uses dates in the 1870’s because they fit most of the available evidence.

Generation: 2

  1. 2.  Ola Nilsson was born on 9 Mar 1844 in Onslunda, Kristianstads län, Sweden (son of Nils Olsson and Marna Svensdotter); died on 2 Oct 1936 in _______, _______, Minnesota, United States; was buried after 2 Oct 1936 in First Lutheran Cemetery, Trinity Lutheran Church, Grove City, Meeker County, Minnesota, United States.

    • Also Known As: Ole N Lindell
    • Also Known As: Ole Nelson Lindell
    • Occupation: Furniture, hardware business owner

    • Census: 16 Apr 1910, Grove City Village, Acton Township, Meeker County, Minnesota, United States

    Notes:

Like his younger brother Hans, Ola Nilsson began using the surname “Lindell” sometime after the emigration of his father’s family to the United States in 1872.

[US-1900-1j1] has Ola Nilsson’s emigration year as 1869 and lists his name as Olaf N Lindell. 1869 is consistent the information from source [Alden-1888] and accounts for the fact that Ola Nilsson is not listed with his father’s family in the manifest of the S. S. Sarmatian in 1872. Like his younger brother Hans, Ola Nilsson almost certainly emigrated to the United States ahead of his father’s family.

[US-1900-1j1] Lists Ola and his second wife Clara as having been married for 13 years in 1900 despite the fact that his first wife Ellen was still alive as recently as 1895.

In 1900, two nephews of Ola Nilsson are listed in his household: Clarence Ahlstrom and Oscar Ahlstrom. It is not known which of Ola’s sisters married a man named Ahlstrom.

Ella was born on 27 Dec 1841 in Onslunda, Kristianstads län, Sweden; died on 27 Mar 1895 in _______, _______, Minnesota, United States; was buried after 27 Mar 1895 in First Lutheran Cemetery, Trinity Lutheran Church, Grove City, Meeker County, Minnesota, United States. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

  2. 3.  Ella Lindell was born on 27 Dec 1841 in Onslunda, Kristianstads län, Sweden; died on 27 Mar 1895 in _______, _______, Minnesota, United States; was buried after 27 Mar 1895 in First Lutheran Cemetery, Trinity Lutheran Church, Grove City, Meeker County, Minnesota, United States.

    Other Events and Attributes:

    • Emigration: 1869, _______, _______, Sweden
    • Census: 19 Jul 1870, Township of Swede Grove, Meeker County, Minnesota, United States
    • Census: 6 May 1875, Town of Swede Grove, Meeker County, Minnesota, United States
    • Census: 12 Jun 1880, Acton Township (Village of Grove City), Meeker County, Minnesota, United States
    • Census: 6 May 1885, Grove City, Meeker County, Minnesota, United States

    Notes:

“Lindell” is Ella’s married name. Her maiden name is recorded as “Nelson” in source [Alden-1888], but given that many sources in Minnesota use a woman’s married name in histories and vital records and Nelson is a close variant of “Nilsson”, confirmation of this fact is warranted.

    Notes:

Nils Olsson, like the rest of his family, took the name “Lindell” sometime around their emigration in 1872. Minnesota State Census records for Meeker County, as well as his gravesite, list his name as “N O Lindell”. The Birth and Death Record for Meeker County has him listed under “Nels Olson”. This database uses the name “Nils Olsson” because this is how he is listed in Swedish birth records for himself and all of his children.

“Asum, Kristianstads län,” is a historical name for the area centered on the modern village of Asumtorp (might also be Norra Asum, another village within a mile) in the modern province of Skåne län.

In 1900, Nils Olsson (aka, Nels O Lindell) lists himself as widowed and is living with his son Ola despite the fact that the best available information has his wife’s death in 1902.

In 1875, Nils Olsson (listed under the name “N C Lindell”) and his wife are living alone in Swede Grove, Meeker County, Minnesota despite the fact that they still had unmarried children under the age of 25.

    Notes:

Along with the rest of her husband’s family, Marna took the name “Lindell” upon emigrating to America in 1872 and she is listed as “Maina Lindell” at her grave site.

Meeker County Cemeteries has death year as 1902, despite the fact that Marna is not listed in [US-1900-1j2] and her husband Nils lists himself as widowed.
