Generation: 1

  1. 1.  Miller Jane Collins was born on 3 Jun 1862 in _______, Pickens County, Georgia, United States (daughter of Miller Collins and Delilah Ann Langford); died on 15 Apr 1940 in Cartersville, Bartow County, Georgia, United States; was buried on 16 Apr 1940 in Oak Hill Cemetery, Cartersville, Bartow County, Georgia, United States.

    Notes:

[Brock-2017] states that Miller Jane Collins and her siblings were raised by their maternal aunt, Susan Belle Langford, after the death of their father in 1875—their mother, Delilah Ann (Langford) Collins having died previously.

Generation: 2

  1. 2.  Miller Collins was born on 9 Mar 1829 in _______, Spartanburg County, South Carolina, United States; died on 25 Jul 1875 in Kingston, Bartow County, Georgia, United States; was buried on 26 Jul 1875 in Oak Hill Cemetery, Cartersville, Bartow County, Georgia, United States.

    Other Events and Attributes:

    • Military: Miller Collins served from 31 August 1861 as a private in Company D, 23d Regiment, Georgia Volunteer Infantry, Army of Tennessee (Confederate States Army). He was wounded in the right arm on 14 September 1864 while serving near Petersburg, Virginia.

Miller married Delilah Ann Langford on 17 Jul 1856 in _______, Pickens County, Georgia, United States. Delilah (daughter of George Perry Langford and Mary Collins) was born on 2 Aug 1837 in _______, Cleveland County, North Carolina, United States; died after 18 May 1867 in Cartersville, Bartow County, Georgia, United States; was buried before Dec 1867 in Old Baptist Church Cemetery, Cartersville, Georgia, United States. Other Events and Attributes:

    • Census: 28 Sep 1850, _______, Cleveland County, North Carolina, United States

    Notes:

The 1850 US Federal Census for Cleveland County, North Carolina lists Delilah Ann Langford’s name as “Dilly A Lankford”.

[Nix-2000] is not clear whether Delilah Ann Langford was born in Cleveland or Lincoln County, North Carolina, but given that many of Delilah sisters were born in Cleveland County and that US Federal census records indicate that the family was in Cleveland County, this database uses the former.

Susan Belle Collins, Delilah Ann (Langford) Collins’ youngest daughter, was born 18 May 1867. Miller Collin’s parents indicated in a letter sent from Arkansas in December 1867 that that Delilah Ann had already passed away. Consequently, this database assumes that Delilah passed away sometime between May and December of 1867.

    Notes:

The original marriage entry from [Nix-2000] reads, “Pickens County, Georgia, Book 1854-78, Page 35,” as if it is a source rather than a statement of the marriage location. Additional research is needed.
